Commentary
An unbeaten 48-run stand between Venkatesh Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav for the fifth wicket helped India claim a confident 6-wicket win over West Indies in the 1st T20I at Eden Gardens.
It was a clinical effort from the Indians as they went 1-nil up in the three-match series.
The target of 158 was never a tough one for India in the run chase but the dismissal of Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant in the middle-overs pushed them on the backfoot.
The trio will look to put up a better show in the remaining two games and gain confidence.
SKY and Venkatesh's partnership was the hallmark of batting in the middle overs as they ensured the hosts didn't succumb to scoreboard pressure.
Captain Rohit Sharma gave India a blistering start in the run chase as he batted aggressively to help India reach 58 without a loss in the powerplay.
While his opening partner Ishan Kishan spent a lot of time in the middle but failed to convert it into a big knock.
Earlier in the day, Nicholas Pooran anchored the West Indies innings with his second T20I fifty against India after being put in to bat first.

The highlight of India's bowling was wrist-spinner Ravi Bishnoi who had a dream debut as he took two for 17 in his four overs. Others also contributed well and would be looking to carry the momentum forward.
