Commentary
A dominant performance from Team India helped them start another bilateral series on a high as they thrashed Sri Lanka by 62 runs in the first T20I in Lucknow.
With this, Team India registered their record 10th successive win in T20Is.
The Men In Blue posted a massive 199/2 after being put in to bat first.Despite having a sedate start, openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan forged a massive century stand and laid the foundation for a big total for the hosts.
Rohit scored 44 before getting dismissed but not before surpassing Martin Guptill to become the leading run-scorer in the T20Is.
Ishan showcased his big-hitting exploits and slammed his second T20I fifty. The explosive left-handed batter scored 89 off 56 balls. Shreyas Iyer was another big positive for India as he scored 57* off 28 deliveries.
In response, Sri Lankan batters had no response against a quality Indian bowling line-up. The visitors kept losing wickets at regular intervals and looked no match against their opponents.
With the asking rate at 10 per over from the start of the game, Dasun Shanaka and his band failed miserably with the bat and could only muster 137 for 6.
Asalanka was the lone bright spot with the bat for the tourists as the left-handed batsman played some big strokes and slammed his third T20I fifty.
The bandwagon now moves to Dharamsala where the remaining two games will be held.
