Commentary
Team India started their campaign in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on a dominant note as they thrashed Australia by an innings and 132 runs in the opening Test match in Nagpur.
The match at VCA Stadium was wrapped up in two and a half days and the Rohit Sharma-led side went 1-0 win in the four-match series.
Trailing by 223 runs after the Indians posted 400 in their first innings, the Australians were folded for 91 in 32.3 overs in their second innings.
The Aussie batters surrendered against the Indian bowlers on a spin-friendly track as R Ashwin picked up a superb five-for in the second innings. No Australian batter could pose any challenge against quality Indian bowlers.
Earlier in the day, Axar Patel's gritty knock of 84 and Jadeja's 70 helped the hosts post 400 in their first innings and put their team in the driver's seat.
Rohit Sharma led India from the front and laid the foundation for a big total with his sensational century. Rohit - who slammed his career's ninth Test ton - scored 120 as the hosts showed their dominance with the bat.
After winning the toss, Australian batters were bundled out for 177, with Marnus Labuschagne top-scoring 49 for his team in the match.
Jadeja - who was making his return to international cricket after an injury lay-off - made an immediate impact in the game by picking up a fifer. The southpaw stamped his authority in the game with his five-wicket haul and later smashed a match-winning fifty.
