Australia seal Super 8 spot

Adam Zampa starred as Australia sealed their Super 8 spot from Group B following a comprehensive 9-wicket win over Namibia at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua & Barbuda on Wednesday (June 12).

Zampa (4 for 12 in 4 overs) helped bundle out Namibia for 72 before David Warner (20 off 8 balls), Travis Head (34* off 17 balls) and Mitchell Marsh (18* off 9 balls) chased down the meagre target with 14.2 overs to spare.

David Wiese was the only wicket-taker for Namibia. He gave 15 runs in his one-over spell in the match as the three Australia batters scored at a strike rate of 200 or more to boost the team's Net Run Rate.

Earlier, put into bat, only skipper Gerhard Erasmus (36 off 43 balls) scored the highest for Namibia as Zampa and co ran through the batting order. Apart from Zampa, Josh Hazlewood and Marcus Stoinis claimed two wickets each, while Pat Cummins and Nathan Ellis also took a wicket-a-piece.

With the win, Australia became the second team to qualify for the Super 8 alongside South Africa, who progressed after the Group D match between Nepal and Sri Lanka was washed out earlier in the day.
