Update on WWE buying ROH promotion
Bengaluru, March 26: A breaking news was given by Pro-wrestling Sheet earlier stating that WWE is looking to take over yet another rival promotion.
As per the source, Vince McMahon was trying to make a deal with the owners of the Ring of Honor (ROH) promotion. At this time, Sinclair Broadcast holds the rights of the promotion.

CBSSports further reported that the talks have been going on for almost one year but no sellout is likely. Dave Meltzer gave further updates of the deal saying that WWE was initially interested in buying the video library and adding it to the WWE Network.
Here's his comment:
“There is no telling if a deal will be made, but what they are negotiating is to get tapes and get rid of competition."
The talk is that WWE is trying to reach only for the video contents. Even after the takeover, they would allow the functioning of the company in their own name. The future episodes will be aired on the WWE Network, exclusively giving some profit to the path-breaking innovation of WWE.
This would have been a similar approach that WWE had while buying two more promotions naming Ohio Valley Wrestling and South West Wrestling. These two companies kept their functioning alive for quite sometimes.
During the buyout of WCW, the approach was different, though where the brand became extinct. The only hope in this ROH deal is that the buyers do not intend to kill the ROH tapings considering its popularity among the hardcore wrestling fans.
CBSSports has reported regarding the deal stating that ''there's no story here''. Here goes the statement from COO of ROH, Joe Koff throwing some more lights in the situation,
“No. No, no, no. It's very flattering and humbling to us. It validates what we've done. But let's face it, a lot of their current competitors are ROH guys, and we have their history.
So maybe the content of the backstories of Kevin Steen before he became Kevin Owens or AJ Styles' run in Ring of Honor. Tyler Black, Claudio (Castagnoli aka Cesaro), Tyler Black (aka Seth Rollins). We have their backstory and where it began."
