Spoilers about John Cena’s WWE Championship match at the Summerslam PPV
Bengaluru, July 31: Jinder Mahal overcame the challenge of Randy Orton at the Battleground PPV. His plan was executed successfully inside the Punjabi Prison allowing him to retain the WWE Championship. Going forward, he will have to defend the title again at the Summerslam PPV.
There were a lot of speculations among the WWE Universe on who would be his next challenger. As reported earlier, John Cena was the front-runner in the list. He picked up a huge win at the bygone PPV against Rusev in a Flag Match representing the United States of America.

So, it was not surprising to witness him coming down to the ring accepting Jinder Mahal's challenge and declaring himself as the contender. However, it's not fair to insert himself into a title match just because he is a 16-time world champion.
Previously, Cena did the same prior to the Royal Rumble PPV and this caused a major backlash among the fans. So, Daniel Bryan announced a dream match between Cena and Nakamura for the next edition of Smackdown to determine the true number one contender's spot.
Now, this is just a twist in the tale reserved by the creative with the same outcome. The Cenation Leader is still slotted for the contender's spot and hence, he will emerge victorious in the much-anticipated match against Nakamura.
This would put John Cena Vs Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship officially into the Summerslam match card.
The writers of the show were always willing to make this match since Jinder is in the look for a push. This bout against the marquee wrestler of the company would earn him more attention from the Indian audience.
Considering that John Cena might not be available once Summerslam gets concluded, he is not the favorite to win the championship match.
Rather, he would digest a loss in order to put his opponent over in a bigger way. Plus, WWE is not planning to hand Cena's record breaking 17th world title reign any time soon.
It is also to be noted that Jinder Mahal is also scheduled to come to India with the WWE Championship around his waist. September is the most probable month when this tour takes place. So, he is expected not to drop the belt until then.
