AEW Full Gear 2024: World Championship Match Announced For November PPV

The rechristened version of Jon Moxley will go through the first championship defense of his current AEW World Heavyweight Title run at this year's Full Gear pay-per-view event set for late November against a former rival.

As announced on the latest episode of AEW Dynamite weekly show, Jon Moxley will put the world title on the line against Orange Cassidy, renewing a bitter feud from the All Elite Wrestling promotion from the past.

On the October 30 episode of Fright Night Dynamite, Cassidy kicked things off to address the heinous actions of the Blackpool Combat Club in recent times as he attacked Chuck Taylor, last week.

Cassidy wanted to cut the head of the snake, Jon Moxley, and therefore he challenged him to a match for the AEW World Championship. Later on in the show, Mox addressed the challenge and said that he wanted to free Cassidy from distraction by breaking Taylor's neck.

Moxley ordered Claudio Castagnoli & Pac to hold down Wheeler Yuta and threatened to break his neck. Cassidy tried to make the save, but The BCC members beat him up. Later, BCC revealed that they were just testing Cassidy.

Soon, Darby Allin came down from the rafters and he was joined by Daniel Garcia, Top Flight, Dark Order & Private Party to fight against The BCC. After this happened, Moxley vs. Cassidy was officially announced for Full Gear 2024.

These two men previously competed in two matches during their beef, last year during the fall. One of the headliner matches of the 2023 AEW All Out saw Moxley defeating Cassidy for the then-International Title.

A couple of months later, Cassidy regained the title by defeating Rey Fenix and then he successfully defended the title against Moxley on last November's Full Gear. The rubber match between them will now happen exactly a year later.

Thus, Full Gear marks Moxley's first title defense of this ongoing fourth world title reign that began at this month's WrestleDream via a win over Bryan Danielson in the main event. Cassidy is yet to capture the AEW world title in his career.

AEW Full Gear 2024 pay-per-view will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Four matches for the annual show have been announced, thus far and it goes as follows:
