Yuki Bhambri bows out of ITF Futures

New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) Promising youngster Yuki Bhambri went down fighting to top seed Pakistani Aqeel Khan while third seed Vijay Kannan was upset by Ashutosh Singh in Men's ITF F7 Futures here today.

The 15-year-old local wild card Yuki put up a brave fight against the seasoned Pakistani opponent before losing 4-6, 6-7(5).

Even after losing the first set in a close fight, Yuki came back strongly in the second to stretch it to tie- break.

But, the young Delhi lad failed to hold on to his nerves in the tie-break and lost it and the match.

In the only upset of the day, Ashutosh defeated Kannan 6-3, 6-4 to set up a quarter-final clash with Chinese Taipei's Tzu-Yang Lin.

The other Indian who booked a last eight berth was fifth seed Aditya Matkekar who sailed through after compatriot Vishnu Vardhan conceded the second round tie with Matkekar leading 7-6(5), 3-6, 1-0.
