Wimbledon: Injury-prone Nadal has a nasty fall
Wimbledon, Jun 23: Rafael Nadal gave his fans across the world quiet a scare when he took a nasty fall during his first round match at the Wimbledon .
The Spaniard is quiet prone to injuries. Throughout 2009, Nadal was impaired by various issues including a knee injury and an abdomen injury.
"We had many problems last year, with the knees and many things. After Roland Garros, it was a difficult decision not playing here," Toni Nadal, Rafael's uncle and coach is quoted as saying.
While trying to change directions, Nadal lost his balance and took a fall. After landing on his back behind the baseline at Wimbledon's Centre Court, the Spaniard turned out to be fine.
He then clinched a 6-2, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Japan's Kei Nishikori to sail into the second round of the grass court Grand Slam Tournament.
Nadal comes into Wimbledon after securing a series of wins on the clay court.
The reigning French Open champion hopes to unseat Swiss ace Roger Federer in "the most beautiful and emblematic court in the world" - as he puts it.
