Veterans National tennis championship from Feb 10

Visakhapatnam, Feb 1 (UNI) The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) Vice Chairman G Venkatram Reddy today said the second CMR-AITA Veterans National ranking tennis championship and AITA national ranking talent series for boys and girls under-12 and 14 organised by the Visakhapatnam District Veterans Tennis Association will be held here from February 10.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the prominent players participating in the event were R I Singh, (Delhi) , Dr Madhav Ghate (Pune), S Parekh (Nasik), Yogesh Shaw (Gujarat), VT Ranganadh (Karnataka), V Rammohan Rao and Chiranjeevi Rao (Andhra Pradesh) and S Sethu(Tamil Nadu).

In seniors category, more than 250 players would participate from New Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Orissa including two veterans from Nepal and a former minister Madhu Rana in the tournament.

There would be three categories in 45+, 50+ and 65+. Both the singles and doubles matches in the scheduled and individual trophies, apart from cash prizes worth Rs 2.5 lakh would be given to the winners.

More than 200 boys and girls would participate from several States, apart from the juniors' category. Altogether, 24 gold medals would be awarded to the winners and runners of the singles and doubles matches in the junior category, he added.
