Tara, Ankita, Sanaa, Sandhya, Janaki in the Q/f of ITF Women

New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) Kyung-Yee Chae of Korea scored the biggest upset by beating top seed Rushmi Chakravarthi of India 6-1, 6-3 to move into the quarter-finals of the ITF Women Tennis tournament being played here in Noida.

Rushmi was completely outplayed by her Korean opponent. However, India had a lot to celebrate with five other Indians making it to the Quarterfinals of the 10,000 dollar event.

Third seed Tara Iyer played brilliantly and booked her quarter-final berth by defeating unseeded Abby Hedges of Australia 6-1, 6-1.

Fourth seed Ankita Bhambri defeated Jung-Yoon Shin of Korea 6-1, 7-5 while her sister Fifth seeded Sanaa Bhambri defeated fellow Indian Sonal Phadke 6-1, 6-3.

In other matches, Seventh seed Sandhya Nagaraj of India defeated fellow Indian Ashmitha Easwaramurthi 6-0, 6-4 while Janaki Gunuganti of India defeated Kelsey Sundaram of the USA after a Walkover.

The only other Indian who faced defeat was Shalini Sahoo. She lost after a well faught contest against Varanya Vijuksanaboon of Thailand 5-7, 6-3, 7-6(6).

In another upset of the day, unseeded Anastasiya Vasylyeva of Ukraine defeated Second seed Montinee Tangphong of Thailand 6-3, 6-3.

In the Quarterfinals, Sanaa Bhambari will be up against Kyung-Yee Chae while her sister Ankita will face Varanya Vijuksanaboon of Thailand. Tara Iyer will face fellow Indian Janaki Gunuganti and Sandhya Nagaraj will be up against Ukraine's Anastasiya Vasylyeva.
