Tanaka wins ITF Women Tournament

Kolkata, Jan 29 (PTI) Second seeded Mari Tanaka ofJapan upset the top seed Dalila Jakuoppovic of Slovenia toemerge winner in the USD 10,000 ITF Women Tournament at JaidipMukerjea Tennis Academy courts here today.



The match was a close affair and the Japanese girl won6-4 6-3 in a battle that lasted for one and half hours.



Tanaka, who is ranked 460 in the WTA rankings, led 5-0in the first set after which Jakuoppovic, ranked 394, pulledup to 5-4 but could not win the set.



In the second set, Tanaka had an early break andfinally won 6-4 6-3.
