Savelescu account for first upset of ITF juniors
Kolkata, Jan 15 (UNI) Sixth seed Ronak Manuja of Maharashtra, India was ousted by Romanian Andrei Savulescu in 67 minutes 6-1,6-3 at the ONGC-ITF juniors 2007 being played at the DKS Sports Complex.
Savulescu broke Manuja in the second, fourth and sixth games and got broken in the third. In the second set Manuja was broken in the first and fifth games. Savulescu lost his serve in the fourth.
Another match of consequence was between Delhi's Yuki Bhambri and Chattisgarh's Abhijeet Tiwari. Yuki won in 105 minutes 6-2,4-6,6-4.
In the first set Bhambri broke Tiwari in the fourth and eighth games to take the set at 6-2. In the second set Tiwari fought back from a 1-4 deficit to take the set 6-4.
Bhambri broke Tiwari in the second and fourth games to go up 4-0.
Tiwari then pulled up his socks and broke Bhambri in the fifth, seventh and ninth games.
In the final set Bhambri broke Tiwari in the second game. Bhambri was broken in the fifth game but broke back in the sixth. There was a trade of serves in the ninth and tenth games also and Bhambri won 6-4.
