Sania's absence in B'lore Open disappointing: Vijay Amritraj

Bangalore, Mar 2 (UNI) Ace tennis player Vijay Amritraj today said the absence of Sania Mirza in USD 600,000 WTA Tier-II Bangalore Open was disappointing.

''Sania's absence for the tournament is very disappointing.

Whatever may be the reason, she could have taken advantage of the event since it's an opportunity to meet international players'', he told newspersons here.

''Indian players should take advantage whenever they get chance in their nation. Bangalore Open is a mega event and great players are participating. It's a good opportunity'', he added.

Vijay, however, declined to be dragged into the controversy which erupted after Mahesh Bhupathi and other players refused to play under the captaincy of Leander Paes in Davis Cup.
