Sania slips to 35th spot in WTA rankings

New Delhi, Jul 21 (UNI) Marred by her recent poor performances, India's Sania Mirza dropped a couple of places to 35th in the latest WTA rankings issued today.

Sania, who was handed a stright-set defeat by a British qualifier in the first round of the WTA Bank of the West Classic, has 803 points in her kitty.

The Olympic bound Indian's doubles rankings also showed a drop of two places as she was at the 20th spot with 1750 points this week.

Meanwhile, Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi held on to their 12th and 15th spot respectively in the ATP doubles chart as their first-round exit from the Indianapolis Championships last week did not affect their rankings.

Indian Davis Cupper Rohan Bopanna slipped three rungs to 46th, while Prakash Amritraj suffered a huge loss of points as he dropped 17 places to 221 after he lost the quarterfinal in the Challenger Series' tournament in Aptos, United States.
