Sania Mirza dream run continues; sails into finals

New Haven, Aug 25 (UNI) Sania Mirza and her partner Italian Mara Santangelo survived a scare but eventually overpowered the Czech-Australian pair of Kveta Peschke and Rennae Stubbs to move into the finals of the Pilot Pen Classic here.

The third seeded Indo-Italian duo were put into sword from the very beginning by the second seeds and lost the first game 2-6 of the 600,000 dollars event.

But the Hyderabadi girl, along with her Italian partner rallied from behind to take the game 6-3, 10-5 in a duel that lasted one hour and 11 minutes.

The third set went into a match tie-breaker, where a better percentage of break points on serve and returns help the Indo-Italian duo clinched the match.

The Indo-Italian combo will meet top seeded Cara Black of Zimbabwe and Liezel Huber of United States in the finals of the tournament.

Black and Huber defeated the Czech tennis player Iveta Benesova and Bethanie Mattek of US 4-6, 6-0,10-5 in the semi-finals.
