Sania makes a first round exit in Satanford doubles

Stanford, US, Jul 17 (UNI) With just 20 days remaining for the Beijing Olympics, Sania Mirza's woeful form continued as the ace Indian was ousted in the first round of doubles in the WTA Bank of the West Classic tennis tournament here.

Sania, who has already crashed out of the singles event, and her Russian partner Anna Chakvetadze were swept aside by the unfancied Czech pair of Eva Hrdinova and Vladimira Uhlirova 6-3, 6-4 in the tier II 600,000 dollar event.

Earlier, the top ranked Indian made a first round exit in the singles event after she was handed a straight-set defeat at the hands of British qualifier Anne Keothavong.

The tournament here was the last opportunity for Sania Mirza to gain some good practise before she leaves for the Beijing Games next month.
