Sania knocked out in first round of Ordina Open
Den Bosch, The Netherlands, June 19 (UNI) Sania Mirza made yet another early exit as she suffered a first round loss to higher ranked Francesca Schiavone of Italy 6-3, 4-6, 4-6 in the 175,000 dollar tier III Ordina Open here.
The Indian, currently ranked 46 in the world, looked set for an upset victory over her World number 30 opponent by winning the first set 6-3.
The higher ranked Italian, however, did not allow Sania to dominate her and won the second set 6-4 in a tight game.
In the decider, Sania failed to get over her nerves and committed a few unforced errors at crucial moments to lose the set 4-6 and match in one hour an 51 minute duel.
This is Sania's second successive early exit from a grass court event following her second round loss at Birmingham last week.
