Sania and King book semi-final berth in Morocco Open

Fes, Morocco, May 18 (UNI) Top seeds Sania Mirza and her American partner Vania King struggled their way into the semi-finals after sneaking past the Spanish pair of Nuria Llagostera Vives and Arantxa Parra Santonja 3-6, 6-2, 10-5 in the 145,000 dollar Morocco Open here.

In a hard fought encounter, the Indo-US pair rallied from a set down to beat the unseeded Spanish pair and will now take on the the French-Venezuelan pair of Camille Pin and Milagros Sequera for a place in the finals of the Tier IV event.

The top seeds were expected to pull off an easy win against Nuria and Arantxa, but were shocked TO BE outplayed in the opening set to take the early advantage.

However, Sania and King, showed their mettle by coming back strongly to clinch the second set and take the match into a decider.

In the match-tiebraker, both the teams matched each other shot for shot but eventually Sania and her American partner held their nerves to come out on top.
