Rushmi shocked; Tara, Ankita in ITF semi-final
New Delhi, Aug 30 (UNI) Top seed Rushmi Chakravarthi was shocked by unseeded Korean Kyung-Yee Chae 2-6, 1-6 in the 10,000 dollars ITF women's tennis tournament here today.
In a repeat of the second round match at the Noida ITF last week, Kyung-Yee swept past the Indian veteran to sail into the semi-finals.
Third seed Tara Iyer and her fellow Indian Ankita Bhambari, however, stormed into the last four round.
Tara defated unseeded Varatchaya Wongteanchai of Thailand in a toght contest 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 while fifth seed Ankita overpowered fellow Indian Isha Lakhani 6-2, 6-1.
In another quarter-final, eighth seeded Nungnadda Wannasuk of Thailand made it to the last four through walkover after second seed Montinee Tangphong of Thailand did not turn up.
In the semi-finals, Ankita will be up against Kyung-Yee Chae while Tara will face Nungnadda.
