Nadal takes on Lopez, enters US Open quarterfinals

New York, Sep 8: Rafael Nadal continued his march towards that his first US Open title as he squashed compatriot Feliciano Lopez to enter the quarterfinals.

The fiery Spaniard, dressed menacingly in all black, beat No 23 Lopez 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in the fourth round of the high profile tournament to pocket his 18th consecutive Grand Slam match win.

The top seeded player will next face another Davis Cup team mate, Fernando Verdasco On Thursday, Sep 9.
