Paes beats Bhupati to enter Toronto Masters semis

Toronto, Jul 26 (UNI) In a hard-fought encounter that went right down to the wire, Indian tennis ace Leander Paes and his Czech partner Lukas Dlouhy pipped Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles in the super tie-breaker to storm into the doubles semi-finals of the USD 2,615,000 ATP Rogers Masters here.

The seventh seeded Indo-Czech pair defeated their fourth seeded opponents 6-4, 3-6, 10-5 in one hour and 15 minutes in their quarterfinal clash.

Paes-Dlouhy did not face a breakpoint in the first set and converted one of the four they got on their opponents' serve to grab the first set.

Bhupathi and Knowles fought back to break Paes-Dlouhy twice in the second set as the match went into the super-tie breaker.

However, Paes and Dlouhy staged a superb comeback to emerge victorious.

They will take on the second seeded pair of Daniel Nestor of Canada and Serbian Nenand Zimonjic in the semi-final.
