Injured Golovin doubtful for French Open
PARIS, May 16 (Reuters) - France's Tatiana Golovin is doubtful for this year's French Open due to an ankle injury.
Golovin, who won her maiden title on the WTA tour at Amelia Island last month, said the problem usually required about six weeks rest to cure.
''I stopped playing three weeks ago and Roland Garros is starting in two weeks so I have doubts,'' Golovin told French sports daily L'Equipe today.
''Last year, I had the same problem but on the other ankle.
I should not have played the French Open. I lost in the first round and it ruined my Wimbledon campaign,'' the world number 16 added.
''I will not make the same mistake this year. If it means I don't play the French Open, well, too bad.'' The 19-year-old Golovin has never made it past the third round on the Paris clay.
