Happy birthday Roger! - Nadal, Nishikori & more celebrate Federer turning 36

Montreal, August 8: Roger Federer turned 36 on Tuesday and Rafael Nadal and Kei Nishikori were among those to wish the evergreen Swiss a happy birthday.

Federer was ravaged by knee and back injuries in 2016 but has returned with a vengeance, triumphing at the two majors he has competed in this year – the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

He dished out some impressive beatings along the way, but the likes of Nadal, Nishikori, Nick Kyrgios, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Alexander Zverev still wished the 19-time grand slam champion a happy birthday.

Federer will have to keep his celebrations to a minimum, though, as he has a second-round Rogers Cup match against Peter Polansky scheduled for Wednesday (August 9).
