Djokovic confirmed in Tennis Masters Cup

LONDON, Sep 6 (Reuters) Serbia's Novak Djokovic has secured a debut appearance at the season ending Tennis Masters Cup after reaching the quarter-finals of the US Open.

The world number three joins Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal as definites for the eight-player finale at Shanghai's Qi Zhong Stadium from November 11-18.

Djokovic, 20, has made huge strides this season and is the most likely challenger to the grand slam domination of Federer and Nadal, scoring victories over both players this year.

He won the Miami and Montreal Masters Series titles this year and reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon and the French Open. He plays Spain's Carlos Moya for a place in the US Open semis later today.

''This is one of my dreams and one of the happiest moments of my short career so far,'' Djokovic said on the ATP Web site.

''To be part of the best eight at the end of the year is something unbelievable. Everything is coming so fast.'' Federer leads the ATP Champions Race with 1,021 points. Nadal has 1,012 with Djokovic on 712.
