Bopanna, Qureshi to team up for French Open

New Delhi, May 24 (UNI) In a rare first, India and Pakistan will mount a joint challenge in the the French Open with Rohan Bopanna pairing up with Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi for the Grand Slam event beginning in Paris next week.

Talking to mediapersons here yesterday, Bopanna said,''We played together at ATP Challenger and Tour level last year and early this year but will be playing together for the first time at the Grand Slam level.'' ''We are very excited and are keenly looking forward to show our skills on the Roland Garros Courts together,'' he added.

The big serving Bopanna currently holds the 58th spot in the world doubles rankings, while Aisam is at the 67th place.

The experienced duo has been playing doubles on the ATP circuit for quite some time and may upset some of the bigger names at the French Open.

Bopanna and Qureshi will leave for Paris today with the French Open due to start on May 25.
