Bhupathi-Stepanek in quarter-finals in Munich

Munich, May 3 (UNI) Mahesh Bhupathi and his Czech partner Radek Stepanek have stormed into the quarter-finals of BMW Open here with a 6-4, 6-2 opening round victory over local duo of Benjamin Becker and Christopher Kas.

The Indo-Czech pair, whose best performance this season was a runners-up finish in Dubai in February, now run into wild card local hopefuls Andreas Beck and Dominik Meffert for a place in the last four.

Beck and Meffert handed a shocking defeat to top seeds Julian Knowle of Austria and Alexander Waske of Germany 2-6, 6-4, 10-5 in the first round yesterday.
