10-yr-old Sneha upsets faniced Isha in tennis tourney
Mumbai, May 2 (UNI) Ten-year-old Sneha Reddy of Maharashtra upset fancied 13-year-old Isha Teertha of Andhra Pradesh in straight sets in the All India National Series and Maharashtra State Ranking Tennis Tournament 2007 at Practennis, Andheri, here today.
Sneha, who earned a wild card, was the toast of the day when she beat Isha 6-4, 6-3 to storm into the girls' under-14 quarter-finals.
Sneha's effort sounded an early warning to the rest of the field, who are formidable 13-year-olds, as she remains a dark horse in the competition.
On a day that was easy for the seeds, boys' under-14 second seed Ronit Bisht of Delhi crushed unseeded Vishal Passi 6-1, 6-0, while girls' under-16 second seed Gopika Kapoor, also of Delhi, demolished Rajani Saadgi of Gujarat 6-3, 6-0.
