Zonal representation in junior, senior selection committees scrapp
Mumbai, Apr 7 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today took a drastic step towards a major revamp of both the junior and senior selection committees by scrapping the zonal representation.
BCCI treasurer N Srinivasan, addressing a press conference after the Working Committee meeting here, said henceforth the board would appoint selectors on a full time basis based on eligibility criteria, which would include stature as a player and selection experience.
Those chosen would be remunerated suitably and they would be appointed for a two-year term. The precise parameters required to become a selector would be decided at the earliest, he added.
Mr Srinivasan said for this an amendment would be required in the Constitution. ''The board will take steps to make the necessary amendments to give effect to the above decision,'' he said.
He added that the BCCI has decided to appoint a permanent manager for the Indian team as well as a media manager. Both will have a two-year term, he said.
