You have done 10-years overtime, retire now: NA sports committee to Butt

Lahore, Aug.1 (ANI): Pakistan National Assembly's Standing Committee on Sports has asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ijaz Butt to step down, saying he has exceeded the legitimate age of retiring.

During a recent hearing, committee chairman Jamshed Khan Dasti enquired Butt about his age and told him to retire saying he has exceeded the retirement age.

"Ijaz sahib even government employees retire at 60. How old are you," Dasti asked Butt.

"I am 70," Butt replied.

"I think enough is enough. You have done 10-years overtime. You should retire now," said Dasti to which Butt retorted: "Yes but even at this age the national team won the Twenty20 World Cup recently under my chairmanship."

It may be noted that Butt is 76 years-old and not 70 which he claims, The Daily Times reports.

Sources said committee members are not happy with Butt and his policies, and want him to step down immediately.

The members opine that Butt's strategies have ruined the game in the country, and that the World T20 victory was due to the hard work of the players.

"Butt is destroying the very fabric of Pakistan cricket with his 'mindless policies'. He is giving a bad name to the patron of the PCB. He should be removed immediately," sources quoted a member of the committee, as saying. (ANI)
