Yadav fifth Indian in last eight in world cadet boxing

New Delhi, Sep 5 (UNI) Umesh Yadav kept the unbetaen run of the Indians intact with a thumping win in the 46kg category and in the process became the fifth Indian to advance to the quarter-finals of the World Cadet Boxing Championships at Baku, Azerbaijan.

Yadav was the top-scorer of the fifth day beating Kyrgyzstan's Omurbek Malabekov 31-15 in the preliminary round bouts yesterday.

Yadav will take on Korean Jung Jin-Gun for a place in the semi-finals, according to information received here today.

Earlier, Vikas Yadav (48kg), Vankala Durgarao (54kg), Vipin Kumar (50kg) and Pramod Kumar (52kg) had booked last eight berths with thumping wins in the AIBA-sanctioned 13-category event for the juniors.

India, which is competing only in five categories, is currently tied eighth with six points.
