World short course champion Ivanenko faces drugs ban
SINGAPORE, Feb 23 (Reuters) World short course 800m freestyle champion Anastasiya Ivanenko faces a two year ban after testing positive for a banned substance, swimming's world governing body FINA said.
Ivanenko tested positive for the diuretic furosemide, a masking agent, during an out-of-competition test on Jan. 23, FINA said in a statement.
The 18-year-old has been suspended and is due to appear before a FINA doping panel following the analysis of a second test.
Ivanenko, who set two national records at the Russian championships recently, is likely to miss next month's world championships in Melbourne.
