World Athletics Day Meet on May 12, 13

Bangalore, May 9 (UNI) More than 1,600 budding athletes, including 120 from Sri Lanka, will be seen in action in the World Athletics Day Meet, to be held here on May 12 and 13.

Talking to newspersons here, Karnataka Athletics Association Secretary and Organising Secretary of the meet Satyanarayana said this was for the first time that the event would be held to mark the World Athletics Day.

He said competitions would be held for 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m, 3,000m, hurdles, 400m hurdles and high jump for boys and girls in the age group of under-eight and under-17.

He said the Youth Nationals would be held in June and it would be the selection trial for picking the Indian team for the Youth World Championship, to be held in Czech Republic during October.
