Woolmer's Kanpur-based 'grandma' sends condolence to his wife
London, Apr 6 (UNI) Bob Woolmer's Kanpur-based old 'grandmother' Susheela, had sent her condolences to his family after she heard about her ''Bobby's'' mysterious death in Jamaica, his wife Gill said.
''Among the many messages, as well as flowers, received by the family, one was from Woolmer's old nanny with whom he grew up in Kanpur, India,'' a report in 'The Times' said.
''We had not heard from Susheela Karintikal for ten years, and she said how sad she was to hear about the death of 'my Bobby','' Gill was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
Gill said the enormity of her loss has yet to hit home even after his memorial service was over.
''I was shaking like a leaf underneath. So much has been happening since Bob died. When everything becomes quieter, that will be when this will hit me the most,'' Gill said after a memorial service for the late coach at Cape Town on Wednesday.
Bob Woolmer was found unconscious in his bathroom at the Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, Jamaica, on March 18 after his team's shock exit from the World Cup and declared dead on the same day at a local hospital.
Jamaican police later revealed the 58-year-old former England Test player's death was a murder after a post-mortem examination revealed he was manually strangled.
Theories have abounded since over how and why he was killed.
It has been suggested he was strangled with a towel or poisoned, while others believe he broke a bone in his neck from falling, had a violent fit, or died of other natural causes.
Some have speculated he was murdered because he was about to blow the whistle on match-fixing within cricket.
But Gill said there was nothing his husband could have said or exposed on match-fixing.
She said she has no intention of travelling to Jamaica and did not know when her husband's body will be returned for a private family cremation, though she was having regular contact with the police in Kingston.
