WI aiming at getting World Cup combination right

Nagpur, Jan 20 (UNI) West Indies (WI) coach Bennett King today said they were using the four-match ODI series against India to get their team composition right for the ensuing World Cup.

Addressing mediapersons on the eve on the first one-day here tomorrow, King said. The absence of Ramnaresh Sarwan and Corry Collymore provides an opportunity for others. Instead of ruing over their unavailibilty, the players can use this opportunity to stand up and be counted especially as the World Cup is so near.'' The West Indian coach also did not read too much into them beating India in the recent matches. ''Though we are going to take that confidence into this series, actually this is a new series and the past results are history and they should be viewed as that only,'' he added.

King also supported his captain Brian Lara's move of batting at different positions. ''This gives a chance to other youngsters in the team to show of what mettle they are made of,'' he said.

''The one day game is all about flexibility and we are trying to achieve that by putting more and more players in different positions and see what they can offer at any given position. We are looking at becoming more consistent in our game through being more flexible and adaptable,'' he added.
