Asian Games 2023 is being held in Hangzhou (China) between September 23 and October 8 where more than 12000 athletes from the entire continent are participating.

The Quadrennial Games, also known as the Asiad, were declared open by Chinese President Xi Jinping during the opening ceremony at the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium on Saturday (September 23).

Asian Games 2023 Total Medal Winners on Sunday

The multi-sporting competition saw a total of 192 medallists on Sunday (September 24), which was officially the first day of the 19th Asian Games.

Hosts China dominated the medal proceedings on Sunday by bagging a total of 20 gold medals on the opening day of the competition. The athletes from the Republic of China also won 7 silver and three bronze medals being won in the day, taking their medal tally to 30.

The Chinese were followed by their East Asian neighbours South Korea, who were second with 5 gold medals. Japan and Hong Kong won two gold medals each while Uzbekistan and Chinese Taipei bagged one yellow metal each on Day 1.
