White to replace McGain in Aussie squad

Sydney, Oct 4 (UNI) All-rounder Cameron White will replace rookie leg-spinner Bryce McGain who has been ruled out of the upcoming Test series against India with a shoulder injury.

''We feel that Cameron's right-arm leg spin and experience in Indian conditions, where he has just returned after captaining the Australia A one-day team to a tournament victory, is the correct option and will provide a good balance to our slow bowling attack,'' selection committee chairman Andrew Hilditch said.

White will join the Australian squad in Bangalore on Monday.

He will be making his debut in the longer version of the game with the first Test starting October 9 in Bangalore.

The 25-year-old White is one of the few players in the Australian squad with previous experience of Indian conditions.

Apart from the tri-series victory against India A and New Zealand A, he played for Bangalore Royal Challengers in the inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) earlier this year.

White has played 21 one-day games and two Twenty20 matches for Australia.
