When Everton striker Saha 'wanted to pack everything in' with depression

London, Oct 8(ANI): Everton striker Louis Saha has revealed how a spate of injuries suffered during his four year stint at Manchester United before arriving at Everton in the summer of 2008, had driven him to the brink of quitting football with depression.

He also revealed how he was forced to train without wages and agree to a two-year 'pay-as-you-play' deal.

"I can laugh now, but I was a depressive. I was aware there was unease among team-mates and United fans every time I made a comeback. They were worried that I would have a relapse. I was more concerned," The Sun quoted him, as saying.

"I've made a miraculous recovery. The fact I'm still out there proves I am mentally strong," he added.

Saha's father Vincent reflecting of Saha's low phase said: "Louis phoned me when he injured his hamstring. It was the final straw. He wanted to pack everything in." (ANI)
