Wet field delays start of SA v Netherlands
BASSETERRE, St Kitts, March 16 (Reuters) A wet field caused by overnight rain delayed the start of the World Cup Group A match between South Africa and the Netherlands in Basseterre today organisers said.
Half an hour before the 0930 (1900 hrs IST) scheduled start of play, the sun was shining and the covers were off but the outfield was still soaked.
Another pitch inspection was arranged for 2100 hrs IST after the umpires had examined the conditions earlier in the morning.
