West Bengal retain acrobatics and trampoline gymnastics nationals
Mumbai, May 28 (UNI) West Bengal, with 165 points, retained their overall title in the 4th National Acrobatics&Trampoline Gymnastics Championships held at the Saraswati Vidyalaya and Junior College, Rabodi, at Thane, near here.
Hosts Maharashtra had to be satisfied with the second place for the second successive year totalling 155 points. They were followed by Chandigarh with 138 points.
The tournament was organised under the aegis of Maharashtra Amateur Gymnastics Association and supported by Thane Municipal Corporation. For the first time prize money worth 0.75 lakhs was given away to the winners.
West Bengal pocketed Rs five thousand, Maharashtra won three thousand and two thousand went to third placed Chandigarh. In the individual categories the first three contestants were awarded Rs 700, Rs 500 and Rs 300 respectively.
The West Bengal gymnasts were winners in the Women's Pairs, Mixed Pairs and Women's group. They stood second in Men's Pairs and third in Men's Group. Services Sports Control Board who had sent a team for this event bagged the Men's Pairs and Men's Group events.
