W R, N R women in final
Lucknow, Mar 13 (UNI) Northern Railways (NR), New Delhi and Western Railways (WR), Mumbai entered into the final of the 18th All India Railway women's hockey championship to be played here tomorrow.
In the semi-finals at the Dhyan Chand stadium of the Guru Gobind Singh sports college, NR beat Central Railway (CR) Mumbai 6-0 and WR outclassed South Eastern Railway (SER) Kolkata 2-0 today.
In the first match, NR took the lead in the very first minute through a field goal by Jasjeet while skipper S Pritam consolidated the lead 2-0 before the breather. At the final hooter, NR scored in all six goals without any reply from rivals CR.
For the winners, skipper Pritam hit three goals followed by Surinder (2).
In the second match, WR's Saba Anjum drew the first blood in the 12th minute while international player and skipper Mamta Kharab scored the second goal of the match in the 40th minute, clinching the tie 2-0.
Tomorrow, prior to the final, the match for the third place will be played between CR and SER.
