Viva beats Army-XI, enters NFL top league

Kozhikode, Apr 6 (UNI) Viva, Kerala was elevated to 1st division of the National Football League after beating Army-XI, New Delhi in the 2nd division of the ONGC-NFL here today.

With this win Viva, which has a total of nine points, became eligible to represent Kerala in the 1st division of the prestigious league after State Bank of Travancore's relegation from it two years ago.

P K Anil Kumar opened the account for Viva in the 18th minute utilising a pass from Nigerian Baba Thunde, thus becoming the top scorer with six goals in the event. The same combination produced the second goal through Baba's beautiful header capitalising on an equally beautiful cross from Anil in the 24th minute.

Immediately, after two minutes, Viva added one more goal to its kitty through Baba, this time from Mohammed Muneer's left flank cross making the score 3-0.

Just before the interval, Ngeri Lal opened the account for Army-XI and M G Ramachandran increased the score in the 85th minute taking the final tally to 3-2.
