Vishal of Delhi wins EMAAR MGF golf championship

Chandigarh, Apr 15 (UNI) Vishal Sareen of Delhi won the Nine-Hole Pitch and Putt competition as three-day Chandigarh Tour for EMAAR MGF Golf Championship Trophy concluded here today.

In the field of 56 golfers including three from the Bhutan Embassy, Vishal carded 26. Vishal received the Emaar MHF Trophy with an aggregate gross score of 190 (Day 1- 87, Day 2-77 and Day 3-26).

Two strokes behind him was B B Kaushil of Pachkula with a score of 28 while the first runner-up position was claimed by Brig I S Punjab, General Manager of Panchkula Golf Course.

Shugna Jain emerged winner in the Nearest to the Pin competition.

Parminder Saigal, CRO, Emaar MGF, was the chief guest at the prize distribution function held at Hotel Taj. Speaking on the occasion organising committee chairman C S R Reddy, who is also president of the Chandigah Golf Association, said that the tournament had exposed golf infrastructure in the region and had enhanced the image of Chandigarh as a golfing destination.

Vivek Atray, Director Tourism and co-chairman of the organising committee was confident that the event had encouraged tourism in a big way. He said that the event may be made an annual feature.

J S Cheema, Secretary General of the orgnaising committee said that the event had become popular and next year entry would be more than 100.
