Virus puts Ancic out of action for two months

ZAGREB, Mar 2 (Reuters) Croatian world number 11 Mario Ancic faces two months on the sidelines after he was diagnosed with mononucleosis, local media reported toiday.

''According to first estimates, Ancic will be out of action for two months. It means that he will be ready to play some time before the Roland Garros (French Open) tournament in June,'' the Jutarnji List daily said.

The 22-year old Ancic said he first felt symptoms of the illness before his nation's Davis Cup defeat to Germany last month when he played with a fever.

Ancic is currently the world's second-highest ranked Croatian player behind Ivan Ljubicic, who is in eighth place.
