Village level sports festival in Punjab

Dhudike, Moga, Jan 21 (UNI) The 52nd Lala Lajpat Rai Sports Mela, in memory of Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai on the eve of his 142nd birth anniversary, will be held at his birthplace Dhudike in Moga district from January 25 to 28.

The sports festival is being organised by Lala Lajpat Rai Birth Place Memorial Committee, Dhudki Gram Panchayat, Desh Bhagat Sports Club, Dasmesh Naujwan Gram Sabha, Lala Lajpat Rai Youth and Welfare Club and residents of Dhudike.

Stating this at Dhudike today, General Secretary of the birth place memorial committee Satya Pal said the sports mela will be started with village level hockey matches after paying floral tributes at Lalaji's memorial.

According to Satya Pal, six top kabaddi clubs of the state including Dashmesh Club Kalkah, Hajit Club Bajakhana, Meeri Peeri Sports Club Kapurthala, Harjit Talwar Club Jagraon, Harjit Friends Club Patto Hira Singh and Rara Sahib Academy teams will taken part in the kabaddi event.

Cart races will also be held during the mela.
