Vikram, Eklavya and Vishwamitra awards

Bhopal, Aug 29 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Governor Balram Jakhar today stressed that students will be provided sports infrastructure in schools so that they can bring fame for India in the future.

''Sports grounds should be ensured in schools,'' he said at Rabindra Bhavan while distributing awards on National Sports Day.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reiterated that the newly-formed Indian Cricket League would be provided with sports grounds in the state.

The Vikram awardees were Shaba Khan (Karate), Amish Pottan (Athletics), Sunil Kewat (Kayaking/Canoeing), Neelam Mishra (Wushu), Darshna Bakde (Kabaddi), Riyazuddin (Basketball), Rohit Patel (Wrestling), Sumer Singh (Horse-riding), Munnalal (Malkhamb) and Manish Kumar (Arm-wrestling).

The Eklavya awardees were Amil Pilaniya (Shooting), Anjali Koshta (Wushu), Basant Sharma (Karate), Chandrakant (Fencing), Aishwarya (Tennis), Varsha Chaudhry (Cricket), Heta Dave (Swimming), Lakhan Singh (Throwball) and Rajni Jha (Swimming).

The Vishwamitra awardees were coaches Namdev Sharma (Karate), Umesh Patel (Wrestling) and Ashish Saxena (Throwball). Former Chief Secretary Aditya Vijay Singh received a Lifetime Achievement Award for encouraging sports.

State Finance Minister Raghavji, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Tukojirao Puar, MP Yashodhara Raje Scindia and Madhya Pradesh Olympics Association President Mahesh Joshi also spoke on the occasion.
