Vijay finishes 8th at Beijing World Cup

Beijing, Apr 20 (UNI) Vijay Kumar of India shot an impressive 580 as he finished eighth in the 25m rapid fire pistol event at the International Sport Shooting Federation World Cup here.

Earlier on Saturday, Vijay failed to qualify by just one point as top six shooters fought for a place in the final.

The 2007 Arjun Awardee, Vijay shot 286 in the first stage and followed it up with a perfect series of 100 as he shot an excellent 294 in the second stage.

Pemba Tamang, the other Indian in the event had a score of 576 (287+289) and shot well to finish 13th.

Russia's Alifirenko Sergei won the gold with a score of 786.7 (586+200.7).
