Victory shows we have the potential to come back: Vaughan

Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Apr 22 (UNI) England skipper Micheal Vaughan has said that his team's win over West Indies in the last Super Eight match of the World Cup shows that England has the potential to stage a come back.

''This was perhaps the best game of this World cup so far and I am happy that my team was involved in it,'' Vaughan told media persons after the match, adding, ''We are disappointed that we have not made it to the semi-finals.'' The match also held important significance as it was Brian Lara's last game of his illustrious international career and the English skipper did not lack behind in lavishing praise on the West Indies legend saying, ''Brian Lara is a genius. There are not many geniuses in the game and we are losing one today. The England team and all our supporters wish him well in his retirement. Lara is a legend of the game not only for West Indies but for the whole of cricketing world. We wanted to give him Guard of Honour.'' However, in a different note, he added, ''In some ways, it's great to see the back of him because he has scored a lot of runs against us and it'll be nice to play against the West Indies team without him because we'll probably get them out for a few runs less.'' Expressing his happiness on yesterday's victory over West Indies, Vaughan said, ''It was nice to finish with a victory, nice to be involved in a great game of cricket, nice to have a fantastic crowd cheering us on and I hope everyone has been entertained. Though we won a game of cricket, but we have not done what we thought we should have done in this World Cup.'' MORE UNI
