Vice President congratulates Vijender for winning bronze

New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) Vice President Hamid Ansari today congratulated Vijender Kumar for winning the bronze medal in the 75 kg (middleweight) category in the boxing event at the Beijing Olympics.

Lauding Vijender's winning efforts, Dr Ansari noted, ''Vijender's bronze medal is the outcome of his determination and sustained efforts.'' He further expressed his hope that this first Olympic boxing medal would inspire many Indian boxers to emulate his feat.

Vijender, who lost to Emillio Corrrea Bayeaux of Cuba in the semifinals of the middleweight (75kg) category, became the first Indian boxer to clinch a medal at the Olympics.
