Veerdhaval Khade to get Rs 5 lakh from CM fund for Beijing Olympics

Mumbai, Apr 10 (UNI) State Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Kolhapur Guardian Minister Harshwardhan Patil today said Kolhapur-based swimmer Veerdhaval Khade will receive Rs five lakh as financial assistance from Chief Minister's fund to enable him participate in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Khade has qualified for Beijing Olympics next year in the 200 m freestyle swimming competition.

Apart from money from CM's fund, Khade will be given Rs 10 lakh, which will be raised through donations from elected representatives, people and various institutions, Mr Patil said in a release here.
